Individual Therapy for Adults
As adults we take on a plethora of roles and responsibilities, hardships arise, major life milestones take place. This can stir us up or bring up past hurts and traumas that have not been resolved. Having a safe space to express, vent, and address our rock bottom as we bounce back and learn more adaptive ways of thinking and being can be so important in the recovery process.
A framework of Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are often utilized as part of therapy.
Individual Therapy for Children
Art is a pre-verbal form of expression for each of us. Regardless of whether a child has a specific interest in art making or not, utilizing creativity through art, in therapy can be an easy and helpful means of expressing emotions and feelings and working through problems and big feelings.
In addition, playing games, sensory activities such sand tray can also be incorporated into sessions.
Emphasis on parent/caregiver sessions with the therapist are key to working with younger children.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment that can be used to treat adolescents that have experienced trauma. It is a skill focused modality that can be very instrumental in helping children better understand and cope with trauma. As part of therapy, the client will learn about trauma and how it impacts their life, learn emotional and behavioral regulation skills, as well as cognitive thinking skills to help them process their trauma narrative in therapy and with a trusted adult or caregiver in their life.
